Wicomico County Public Schools | EFMP FY2024 ELEMENTARY SUMMER ACADEMY The Elementary Summer Academy is offered to students exiting K - 4th grade in Wicomico County. The purpose of the Summer Academy is to enhance learning acceleration for all students through reading and math structured content, utilization of strategic technology programs, hands-on STEM activities, and interactive enrichment and community partner experiences. These summer sessions will be held at Beaver Run Elementary School, Fruitland Primary School, North Salisbury Elementary School, and Westside Intermediate School. Elementary Summer Academy operates Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM, for five weeks or 19 school days. Transportation to and from the program is provided by Wicomico County Public Schools to collector sites at each of the outlying elementary schools. Breakfast and lunch are included through the Wicomico County Public Schools Food Service Department. SUMMER LEAP The Summer LEAP program is offered to students exiting K - 4th grade in Wicomico County who attend the Elementary Summer Academy in the morning. The purpose of Summer LEAP is to provide weekly themed hands-on project-based learning, art integration, and organized recreation with teambuilding to enhance learning experiences and combat summer learning loss. Summer LEAP will be held from 12:30 - 3:30 PM after the Elementary Summer Academy day has completed at Beaver Run Elementary School, Fruitland Primary School, North Salisbury Elementary School, and Westside Intermediate School. Transportation home is provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. CAMP SL@M MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM A summer enrichment program designed for approximately 100 Wicomico County students in 6th – 8th grade. The program will provide hands-on learning enrichment tracks such as nutrition, STEM, physical education, music education, entrepreneurship, and the arts. Students will also participate in interest-based club activities in the afternoon, goal setting, organized recreation, field trips, and skill building. The program will take place Monday - Thursday from 8:30 - 3:00 PM for 4 weeks at James M. Bennett High School. Transportation and Food Service to and from the program is provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER STEM CAMP Middle School Summer STEM Camp is a summer enrichment program designed for 6th – 8th grade Wicomico County students with a 2.5 GPA or higher. STEM camp runs for 3 weeks in the summer starting in July, Monday – Thursday, from 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM at Salisbury Middle School. The program provides weekly themes in the areas of engineering, robotics, STEAM, forensics, and more. Transportation home the program as well as meals are provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. 62
