PRINCE STREET SUMMER CRUISIN & SUMMER LEAP Offered to approximately 100 students exiting K - 5th grade in Wicomico County from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The purpose of the Summer CRUISIN is to provide reading and math acceleration for Prince Street students who are identified as below reading and math proficiency to ensure they bridge the summer slide. Reading and math intervention tools include Do the Math, Chip Kits, and 95%. Students are also exposed to community partners and enrichment experiences. In the afternoon, Summer LEAP will provide weekly themed hands-on project based learning, art integration, and organized recreation with team building to enhance learning experiences and combat summer learning loss. Summer LEAP will be held from 12:00 - 3:00 PM after the Summer CRUISIN day at Prince Street. Transportation and meals are provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. PRIME ELEMENTARY SUMMER PROGRAM The PRIME Elementary Summer Program is offered to targeted incoming 3rd-5th grade Wicomico County students reading 1-2 years below grade level, based on their most recent i-Ready reading scores. PRIME (Practical Resources to Improve & Maximize Education) seeks to combat the summer slide in approximately 60 students by providing reading support and remediation, as well as career interest activities. Students are also provided with organized enrichment & recreational activities including arts & crafts, STEM projects, sports/fitness, music/dance and field trips. The PRIME Elementary Summer Program will be held at Pemberton Elementary School, Monday–Thursday, 9 AM - 3 PM, for 5 weeks. Transportation to and from the program, as well as on field trips is provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. Breakfast and lunch are included through the Wicomico County Public Schools Food Service Department. PRIME MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM Offered to targeted incoming 6th-8th grade Wicomico County students reading 1-2 years below grade level, based on their most recent iReady reading scores. PRIME (Practical Resources to Improve & Maximize Education) seeks to combat the summer slide of approximately 60 students with reading support/remediation, as well as career interest activities. Students are also provided with organized enrichment & recreational activities including arts/crafts, STEM projects, sports/fitness, music/dance and field trips. The PRIME Middle School Summer Program will be held at Bennett Middle School, Monday–Thursday, 9 AM - 3 PM, for 5 weeks. Transportation to and from the program, as well as on field trips is provided by Wicomico County Public Schools. Breakfast and lunch are included through the Wicomico County Public Schools Food Service Department. SUMMER SCHOOL SECONDARY Secondary Summer School is available to students in grades 6-12. Summer school will be free to all Wicomico County students. Classes are offered in English, mathematics, science, social studies for the purpose of obtaining credit for courses failed. High school Honors Summer Session classes, for original credit, are available for students entering grades 9–12 and include: Honors Algebra II, Honors Geometry and Honors Chemistry. Additional programs offered during Secondary Summer School include: secondary ELL program, and middle school enrichment camps. The location for middle Summer School will be at Choices Academy and high will be at Schumaker Complex. 63
