YOUNG BUSINESS LEADERS Students are identified in 5th grade and invited to participate in the new signature program for grade 6 at Wicomico Middle School. This is an innovative educational program centered around business, marketing, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Designed toprovide adynamic and immersive learning experience, the academy aims to cultivate essential skills in young minds, preparing them for the everevolving world of commerce. Students will engage in hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and real-world simulations to develop a solid foundation in business concepts, marketing strategies, and entrepreneurial principles. The curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, empowering students to explore their potential as future leaders and innovators. This signature academy seeks to foster a passion for business and entrepreneurship while equipping students with practical skills that will serve them well in their academic journey and beyond. ELEMENTARY SOAR Students will participate in a 5-block instructional day consisting of a 50-minute block of ELA, ELA Intervention, Math, Math Intervention, and STEM, along with a 30-minute lunch and 30-minute recess break. Free breakfast and lunch will be available for all participating students. Transportation will be available, but parents will be required to drop their child off/pick up at their current school to catch the bus. TITLE I SUMMER SAIL AND SUMMER SOAR LEARNING Summer SAIL/SOAR is a remedial ELA, Math and STEM summer learning opportunity for eligible K-4 students in Wicomico County Public Schools. Current students in grades 1-4 who need remedial reading and/or math instruction are invited to enroll in the summer learning program. The program will be held Monday-Thursday from 8:30 AM – 2:15 PM from June 24 – July 25, 2024. Summer SAIL will be hosted at Prince Street Elementary for students currently enrolled at Beaver Run, Chipman, East Salisbury, Glen Avenue, Pemberton, Pinehurst, Prince Street and West Salisbury schools. Summer SOARwill behostedatNorthSalisburyElementary for students currentlyenrolled at Delmar, Fruitland Primary, Fruitland Intermediate, North Salisbury, Northwestern, Pittsville, Westside Primary, Westside Intermediate and Willards Elementary schools. Students will participate in a 5-block instructional day consisting of a 50-minute block of ELA, ELA Intervention, Math, Math Intervention, and STEM, along with a 30-minute breakfast and lunch and 30-minute recess break. Free breakfast and lunch will be available for all participating students. Transportation will be available, but parents will be required to drop their child off/pick up at their neighborhood school to catch the bus. 47
