SPECIAL EDUCATION 3.2 Wicomico County Board of Education INS-SPD-PL-001 Special Education Services for Children with Disabilities It is the policy of the Wicomico County Board of Education to provide a full continuum of specialized instruction and health related services for all eligible children with disabilities, birth through the end of the school year in which they turn age 21, who reside in Wicomico County and to ensure their right to a free appropriate public education. This also includes identification of students with disabilities attending private schools who are in need of special education and related services. To the extent appropriate, students with disabilities will be educated in the least restrictive environment with age appropriate, non-disabled students. Removal of students with disabilities from the regular educational environment occurs only when the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in general education classes with the use of supplementary aids and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily and is the decision of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. Such removal will comply with all applicable regulations.
