Consultants may supplement staff capacity; schedule and 76 facilitate meetings; develop handouts, presentations, and maps; and conduct 77 public outreach. 78 vi. Planning Team membership, formulated with WCPS personnel from 79 transportation, facility planning, and operations. The team is encouraged to also 80 include key community stakeholders, the Superintendent, and Board 81 representation. 82 vii. A community engagement plan which includes a variety of engagement strategies 83 emphasizing maximum community involvement and transparency. 84 b. Following initial data collection, the Superintendent or designee will engage the 85 school communities involved in the redistricting to present the details on the process 86 and the community engagement plan. Collected data will also be presented to the 87 school communities for review and discussion. Input will be gathered regarding 88 questions and concerns about the proposed redistricting. 89 c. The Planning Team will develop a variety of school attendance boundary options 90 utilizing information gathered earlier and factors outlined above. These options will 91 be presented to the school communities, in accordance with the community 92 engagement plan, for review and comment. The proposed options will be revised and 93 presented to the school communities to prepare an appropriate recommendation for 94 the Superintendent’s consideration. 95 d. The Superintendent will forward redistricting recommendation(s) to the WCBOE, 96 including all pertinent data, information, considered options, and details of 97 community engagement. 98 e. The WCBOE will hold a minimum of one work session and a minimum of one public 99 hearing rgearding the proposed school attendance area boundary adjustment(s). The 100 WCBOE acknowledges that public input is a priority. 101 f. The WCBOE may form a Redistricting Study Committee, of community 102 stakeholders, to review recommendations of the Superintendent. All pertinent data, 103 information, considered options, and details of community engagement will be 104 provided to the committee. 105 g. The WCBOE may direct the Superintendent to provide additional information or 106 develop alternative attendance boundary options for the WCBOE’s consideration. 107 h. The WCBOE reserves the right to modify proposals, alternatives, or 108 recommendations recommended to it. 109 i. The final recommendation for boundary adjustments shall be published on the 110 WCBOE website at least seven calendar days prior to final action by the Board. 111 j. The WCBOE will take final action at a public meeting. 112 k. Consideration will be given to granting “grandfathered” status to students entering 113 5th, 8th and 12th grades if space is available. 114 73
