BOX 1538 2424 NORTHGATE DRIVE., SUITE 3, SALISBURY, MD 21802-1538 SFS-TRA-PR-002 Misfeasance, incompetence, insubordination, or any act or omission that adversely affects 154 transportation or safety may be grounds for disqualification and termination of the alternative 155 school vehicle driver by the supervisor of transportation. 156 157 E. Disqualification for Driving Record. 158 If an alternative school vehicle driver has three or more current points, they shall be disqualified 159 and the driver may not operate an alternative school vehicle. 160 F. Disqualified Alternative School Vehicle Driver Database. 161 1. The Department’s Office of Student Transportation shall maintain a confidential computer 162 database of alternative school vehicle drivers who have been disqualified by a local school 163 system under VII.C, D, and E of this procedure or for any other reason. 164 2. The supervisor of transportation shall notify the Department’s Office of Student 165 Transportation of an alternative school vehicle driver disqualification within 30 days of the 166 alternative school vehicle driver receipt of notification of the disqualification. 167 3. The notification shall be in the format prescribed by the Department. 168 4. On the first business day of each month, the supervisor of transportation shall submit to the 169 Department's Office of Student Transportation a current list of active school vehicle drivers. 170 The list shall be in an electronic format prescribed by the Department. 171 5. Within the first 4 business days after receipt of the current list of active alternative school 172 vehicle drivers, the Department's Office of Student Transportation shall match that list with 173 the Department's confidential computer database established under this regulation and 174 immediately notify the supervisor of transportation if an active alternative school vehicle 175 driver is listed on the Department's computer database. The supervisor of transportation shall 176 respond in writing to the Department verifying receipt of notification and advise of their next 177 appropriate action. 178 179 VIII. General Guidelines for Use of WCPS Vehicles 180 A. The use of a WPCS vehicle is for school system related activities only. 181 B. Only Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS) employees are permitted to drive an agency 182 owned vehicle. They must hold a Maryland driver’s license and have minimum of five years of 183 driving experience. 184 C. Prior to the driver’s first use of a WCPS vehicle, the Director of Transportation Services or a 185 designee will review the driving record of the employee who will be driving the vehicle. If 186 approved, the driver will have their name entered into the Maryland Motor Vehicle 187 Administration’s License Monitoring System. 188 D. Each passenger must use a seat belt while being transported. 189 E. Smoking is not permitted in any agency owned/operated vehicle. 190 F. The principal/site administrator must approve the use of the alternative vehicle. 191 67
